About
the Innkeepers
We,
along with our three sons Marshall, Nick and Owen (and Sydney,
the inevitable dog) purchased Inn in December of 1997.
 |
Our
backgrounds in the hospitality industry brought us to Vermont
after a lot of due diligence. We’re mainly New England
folks having lived in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, but
we have truly grown fond of Vermont and all it has to offer.
|
We met while working
at The Ritz-Carlton, Boston (which we believe is now The Taj?)
where Debbie worked as the Director of Conference Services and
John worked in various management positions ranging from Manager-On-Duty
at the Front Desk to Reservations Manager to Credit Manager. We
decided a few years back we needed something more fulfilling in
life than the hustle and bustle of the corporate world so we turned
our energy towards a goal that would allow us to make and shape
our own destiny. Of course, it only seemed natural that we would
end up as proprietors of a bed and breakfast. Not to mention,
we really wanted to spend more time with our children.
Since we’ve been
here, we’ve changed and added on a few things. When John
is not checking in guests or fixing a pipe or coaching T-ball,
he develops and markets websites for local businesses in the valley.
He’s even managed to help out a few guests along the way
as well and continues a nice relationship with them. Debbie is
working during the week down in Brattleboro in the office of an
elementary school. Basically on Friday’s when she gets home,
she starts right up in the kitchen getting food ready for the
weekends. If you don’t’ think that is enough, she
insists on training for triathlons and steals a day here and there
to compete in a race. Oy! Then there are our boys, their schedules
and all their sports. We manage, somehow!
Our overall goal for
the inn hasn’t changed. It is to provide a warm, clean and
caring environment in which you, our welcomed guests, are able
to relax and rejuvenate. We will do our utmost in making you feel
more comfortable than if you were in your own home. If, at any
time prior to, during or after your stay with us there is anything
that we can do, please do not hesitate to ask. We look forward
to helping you make the most of your respite while staying at
The Austin Hill Inn.
